The Gurdwara ( or House of God ) is a Sikh Temple where members of the Sikh faith not only attend for worship, but also a cultural learning centre critically important for young Sikhs to understand and remain connected to their faith, whilst also welcoming people of all faiths to learn about the rich history, culture and faith of Sikhism. Subjects such as Punjabi – the language of Sikhism are taught alongside Keertan, a traditional call-and-response style chant set to music, and often describing a Sikh legend, devotion or to discuss spiritual ideas.
