The Grand Lodge started the Royal Masonic Benevolent Annuity Fund for men in 1842, and in 1850 the first Home was opened in East Croydon and thus the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution (RMBI) was established. In 2016 the amalgamation took place of the four Masonic charities, this enlarged single charity became the MCF, and the RMBI Care Co. for the day to day management and funding of the care homes Today, RMBI Care Co. has 18 care homes in England and Wales and supports older Freemasons, their families and people in the wider community with residential care, nursing and dementia support. Cheshire Freemasons do not have a single care home within the Province – but that doesn’t stop us proudly contributing to their costs every year without fail – with substantial ongoing annual contributions to not one but three RMBI Care Co. homes close to our borders, namely Ecclesholme in Eccles, Queen Elizabeth Court in Conwy, and Tithebarn in Liverpool.
