Area 1 & 2 Prostate Screening Session raises £1,600.00

On Saturday morning 19th January 2019, Area’s 1 & 2 combined to host the Prostate Screening Team from Leighton Hospital at Crewe. The session was open from 9.30am until 12.30pm and was to-date the most successful session run by either Area. A fantastic turnout saw a total of 210 men visiting Wallasey Masonic Hall and undergoing a simple 5 minute blood test. Of those 210, we are delighted that 30 were non-Mason’s. On the morning, donations from those attending saw almost £1,600 being presented to the Leighton Hospital Prostate Screening Team and it is firmly predicted that at least another £200.00 will be added to that figure due to Gift Aid. WBro Jeff Cunningham, PProvJGW, APGM with Special Responsibility for Area 1 was present throughout the session and said: “it was wonderful to see so many men taking advantage of this life-saving service and It has been especially pleasing to welcome those non-Masons who have attended. This is another great example of Freemasonry reaching out and embracing the local communities. As always we extend our thanks to the volunteers from the Leighton Hospital Prostate Screening Team who give their spare time to run these sessions; at last year’s session three men were identified by the test as being in need of immediate treatment and this just goes to show how invaluable the service is. It is a pleasure to be able to donate such a magnificent sum to the Team today on behalf of not only Area’s 1 & 2 in particular but also on behalf of Cheshire Freemasons in general”
