The Northern Lights Children’s charity held their 30th birthday carnival at the Neston Cricket Ground, Parkgate, on Sunday 9th July 2017. Area 1 & 2 and the TLC Appeal had a display stand. The Charity raises funds to give children aged between 6 and 11, with life limiting illnesses, the experience of a holiday they will never forget to visit Santa at his home in Lapland in December.
The Team from left to right: W. Bro. Neil Eaton (TLC Area 2), W. Bro. Eric Skillen (TLC Area 1),W. Bro. Michael Ring (Area 2 Media) .Big Ted (Bro. Anthony Robinson), W. Bro. Gary Cowling, W. Bro. Jim Johnston, and W. Bro. Malcolm Cooke.
We were blessed with excellent weather and over 5,500 people passed through the entrances, making it a very successful day both for Northern Lights and Cheshire Freemasons. It was a pleasure to meet the public and hear their stories of the TLC Bears at work and to be able to tell them that Cheshire Freemasons supply and donate the bears, which ultimately reflects just some of the good work that we Masons do in the community.
Grateful thanks goes to W. Bro. Leyland Preston and his wife for the beautiful plants they donated which proved to be very popular and sold out.
The Team were visited and supported from Area 2 by W. Bro. Gary Horstman APGM and W. Bro. John Miller (Chairman) accompanied by their wives, who were delighted to present the awards to the winners of the Baking Competition which was sponsored by Cheshire Freemasons.
They also had the pleasure of presenting a donation cheque for £800.00 to Mrs. Karen Jones of the Northern Lights Children’s charity. W. Bro. Eric Skillen (TLC Area 1) also presented a Cheque for £110.00 on behalf of his Lodge, Wallasey Lodge No: 3036.
From Area 1 W. Bro. Paul Massie APGM and W. Bro. Jeff Cunningham (Chairman) and their wives were made very welcome following their earlier visit to the Tithebarn Care Home, Crosby were they had been presenting a cheque.
