Proscenium Lodge No. 4052 based at Wallasey was the home of many live entertainers, members were drawn from the Stage, Music Hall and Cinema. It was also the family Lodge of the Humphrey family and at the age of just 21 years WBro Robert Walter Griffith Humphreys became the third member of his family to become a Freemason.
During those early years he commuted from Nantwich and even when he moved to further his profession as a Chartered Civil Engineer kept his links with Proscenium. Now retired he has moved back to Nantwich and joined The Lodge of Wych Malbank No 6064 where he celebrated his 50th Anniversary at Willaston Masonic Hall.
WBro George Mann, APGM detailed his very interesting life and time when he lived at Kingston-upon-Thames, a town linked to Freemasonry and the Masonic Order of Athelstan when King Athelstan was Crowned by standing on a stone and proclaiming himself first King of England. Hence the name Kingston. A splendid evening of nostalgia and history. During the evening Robert was promoted to the new rank of PAGDC.
