Cheshire’s first “Daylight” Lodge, Wythenshawe No. 2688, celebrated the 60th anniversary of one of its popular members on 24th April, WBro Peter Brown PProvSGW who was originally initiated into Freemasonry at Priory Lodge No. 3690 in Birkenhead.
A large number Distinguished Guests and Acting Officers were present to support Peter’s Diamond Jubilee Celebration which was held at Christleton, so much so that it necessitated a move to the large Lodge Room at Cheshire View to accommodate everyone. During the ceremony DPGM David Dyson presented Peter with a citation from the PGM, accompanying WBro David was WBro Simon Richardson APGM who eloquently gave a detailed account of Peter’s life from his birth in Birkenhead into a family of shipbuilders, his war- evacuation spent in Portmeirion, his National Service days as a PT Instructor in the REME and his time at Cammell Lairds and BNFL (UKAEA). WBro Simon noted many achievements in Peter’s Masonic career; notably the fact that his first appointments in Craft, Royal Arch and Mark were all of acting rank.
At the Festive Board members and guests were treated to a superb meal and Peter was presented with a gift from the Brethren of the Lodge.
A great day of celebration fit for a wonderful Freemason.
