Cheshire’s first “Daylight” Lodge, Wythenshawe No. 2688, celebrated the 60th anniversary of one of its popular members, WBro Harry Parry PPrSGW who was originally initiated into Freemasonry at Dormer Lodge, Birkenhead.
A large number Distinguished Guests and Acting Offices were present to support Harrys celebration which started earlier in the day when he was congratulated and thanked for his 60 Year Service to Freemasonry by RtWBro Stephen Bank our Provincial Grand Master. During the ceremony DPGM Alan Glazier presented Harry with a citation from the PGM who was accompanied by WBro George Mann APGM who gave a detailed review of Harry’s Professional career with J Bibby & Son as well as overview of his Masonic life. Brethren listened with great interest as the APGM’s presentation covered Harry’s early life in Liverpool on the Dock Road, his secret work with the RAF, his singing career and work on-board Court Line Boats and some of his many happy days of Freemasonry when Ladies Nights would start in the early evening of one day and end up with breakfast the following. Entertainment was self-made, fun being the key to great revelry.
At the Festive Board members and guests were treated to a superb meal followed by singing from that well know half tenor Tom Cowen accompanied by Bill Bennett at the piano.
A great day of celebration fit for a wonderful Freemason.
