WBro George Hughes Celebrates 50 Years in Freemasonry

At a meeting of the Runcorn Lodge on Monday 14th May, a 50 year celebration took place for WBro George Hughes. WBro George was initiated into Rodney Lodge No 4625, who met at Hope Street in Liverpool (in the Province of West Lancashire), on the 23rd March 1968.

Mondays celebrations was attended by the APGM for Area 5, WBro Simon CL Richardson PJGD accompanied by Grand and Provincial Officers. WBro Richardson spoke of George’s distinguished military career with the Grenadier Guards including sentry duty at Buckingham Palace and other interesting anecdotes. He also spoke of George’s sterling work with the Halton Resource Centre, the Cheshire Federation for the Blind and the Liverpool Branch of the Grenadier Guards  Association. WBro George was promoted to the rank of Past Provincial Grand Superintendent of Works on the night which was followed by an excellent festive board which included gifts and a cake to George from the Lodge.

A good night was had by all, a special night for a special Brother.
