A “Life on the Ocean Waves” for thirteen years with shipping company Cunard was just one of the many ventures WBro Rob Reardon’s encountered as he started his Masonic life. Rob joined Rock Jubilee Lodge at Birkenhead when he was a Purser on one of Cunard’s famous “Quartet” passenger ships sailing between Liverpool, Montreal and New York, the dates of his initiation, passing and raising were all governed by the sailing times of the Cunard fleet. On becoming land based Bob brought up a large family and eventually moved to Chester where he joined Bridgegate Lodge and continued to enjoy his freemasonry for a period of 60 years.
WBro George Mann APGM detailed Bob’s most interesting life and some of his adventures when he celebrated his Diamond Anniversary at Bridgegate Lodge on Thursday 24 March. During the ceremony he was promoted to the rank of PPSGW in recognition of his tremendous service to freemasonry in both Craft and Royal Arch and his extensive voluntary work with many local charities. Members of Bridgegate Lodge marked the occasion by presenting Bob with a special Masonic Celebration Plate detailing his initiation date and new rank.
