Members and guests of Tarporley Lodge turned out in force yesterday to support the celebration of their member John Edward Smith who has worked tirelessly for his Lodge and the Village of Tarporley over many years.
APGM George Mann reviewed his past life to reveal his farming background, work with the Young Farmers Club, Farmhouse Cheshire Cheese Federation and Parish Council. When not out at Lodge or in the Council chamber he is busy building racing yachts in his drawing room only to realise the only way out is through the window. John is a member of the Royal Navy Voluntary Reserve and a licenced Yacht Master delivering sailing crafts all over Europe. During the evening George Mann promoted him to the new rank of PPrGSuptWks in recognition of his work in Freemasonry and the community.
During the Festive Board members and guests were treated to a Burns Evening complete with Haggis addressed by John and piped into the dining room in traditional style. A surprise for everyone when a guest and supporter of the Lodge from a Swiss background presented a £20,000 cheque in favour of the 2016 Festival.
Johns celebration attracted a large attendence from Provincial Officers
