Sixty years ago John McMillian Baird PPSGW a member of Lodge of Benevolence was initiated as a Freemason in the Jolly Sailor Hotel at Marple and remembers the happy times when the Lodge met on the occasion of a full moon to give light for members making their way home. Memories came flooding back when George Mann APGM revealed John’s interesting history to a packed Lodge Room at Stockport Guildhall on Saturday 9 April, the meeting was also supported by the Master and members of Vernon Lodge who had met earlier.
Area Four’s APGM David Dyson was attending another Masonic function, the opportunity gave George the chance of returning to Lodge of Benevolence last visited in 2009 on that occasion their Master David Waring was a Fellowcraft. A splendid evening of happy memories, wholesome food and good company.
