For many years Deva Lodge No.3447 have organised a Burns Night at Cheshire View following their Lodge meeting, it has always been a super evening and last night’s (Wednesday) event was no exception. The evening started in a near capacity Temple 1 at Cheshire View with members and guests from Cheshire, North Wales and Lancashire enthralled with a second degree ceremony that captivated the Brethren. The Worshipful Master David Dalrymple resplendently dressed in kilt performed the ceremony of passing for Bro Graham Stevens, a night he and all the Brethren present will remember for a long time. The Second Degree Tracing Board delivered in a superb manner by WBro Alan Johnson PProvJGD, who is the Lodge Secretary and had also organised the entire evening.
Brethren retired to the Stanley Walker suite following the Lodge Meeting where they witnessed the arrival of the Haggis paraded in by a lone piper and Pipe Major Pat Jones who gave the address in fine voice. The Pipes and Drums of the Scots Guards Association then paraded the room to rapturous applause arriving at the stage to give a rendition of popular Scottish tunes.
The Brethren enjoyed a Burns Night Supper for the Lodge Festive Board of; haggis with neeps and tatties, Roast Pork and Scottish oatcakes and cheeses, a miniature of Whisky provided to either drink or pour over the haggis.
As the evening neared the end, the Director Ceremonies WBro Mike Edwards PProvJGD announced that not one but two APGMs were at the door! WBro Adrian Davies PSGD and WBro Simon Richardson PJGD were welcomed into the room and WBro Simon Richardson addressed the Brethren and wished them an enjoyable evening.
