A farmer all his life WBro David Alan Roberts celebrated his 50th Anniversary in Freemasonry at Tarporley Lodge on Thursday 19 October surrounded by colleagues from the farming fraternity and local community. David was brought up on a farm and knew much about animal husbandry long before he went to Reaseheath Agricultural College.
George Mann APGM helped bring back some of the memories of his former years when David became a Freemason at Travellers Lodge in Hunter Street and as a member of Young Farmers met the love of his life Ann and brought up a family at Oscroft Hall Farm. Memories flooded back for all members of Tarporley Lodge when WBro George Mann APGM reflected on their meetings at the Bowmere Hotel, now demolished, and how a Deacons wand had pierced a valuable painting at the Swan Hotel. David was promoted during the evening and later presented with a commemoration plate by the Lodge reflecting his new rank of PPGSwdB. The meeting was well supported by Acting Officers of the Province who all enjoyed the evening in Tarporley Lodges new splendid Masonic home at Willington Hall set in 17 acres of gardens and parkland.
