Cheshire’s Freemasons were Represented at Chester’s Lord Mayors Banquet

The Lord Lieutenant, Civic Leaders, Political Heads, Leaders of all Social Organisations in the city and Mayors from neighbouring towns were all invited to attend Chester’s Annual Lord Mayor’s Banquet at the Town Hall on Friday 3 March. Freemasonry in Cheshire was represented by WBro George Mann APGM. The Right Worshipful The Lord Mayor of Chester Councillor Angela Clayton accompanied by the Worshipful Sheriff Myles Hogg met everyone at a reception in the richly timber panelled Council Chamber before dinner in the Assembly Room. During the intermission guests were entertained by Beau Dermott and Megan Basford two teenage students studying music at the Hammond School.

At times like this Chester brings out its ancient Gold and Silver, earlier in the evening the Mayor wore her solid heavy gold chain and equally heavy Gold robe supported by the Mace Carrier and Ceremonial Sword Bearer. At the Banquet twenty seven pieces of silver were on display including a 17th century flagon complete with tankards and 18th century massive punch bowl.
