Another Great REMAF Day Out

REMAF, the Retired Freemasons Fellowship held their June Ladies to Dine Luncheon at Cheshire View on Wednesday 14 June. Everyone enjoys REMAF’s many meetings and tours non-more so than the Ladies. On Wednesday members, friends and widows of Freemasons, enjoyed the comfort of the Cyril Acton Suite and an excellent meal whilst having a jolly good natter. After lunch the group were entertained by after dinner speaker Ray O’Brian.

Ray, who is Liverpool born and now lives in Wallasey worked in the Prison Service, has been a Probation Officer and Radio Entertainer, he is well blessed in Liverpool humour and kept the group in stiches when he reviewed the stories behind some of Merseyside’s former entertainers. Ken Dodd, Arthur Askey, Tom O’Conner, Stan Boardman to name a few. The truth was out; what Liverpool Prison Officers planned to do, had Ken Dodd been detained at Her Majesty’s Pleasure, how people phrase notes and letters that unfortunately have double meanings plus how local comedians help others. A wonderful afternoon of excellent food, good company and first class entertainment.

The next planned REMAF meeting will be a coach trip to Bridgnorth leaving Ellesmere Port Masonic Hall after rush hour on 17 July. The tour will include a mid-morning coffee stop, lunch at the “Down Inn” where the Carvery is deemed to be one of the best in Shropshire, back on board the coach again and off for a ride on a Steam Train from Bridgnorth to Kidderminster, on the way home, time permitting, we will stop for tea. If you would like to join this happy band of retired Freemasons, their families and friends make contact with Mike Hendy at Bridgegate Lodge or there are a few seats left on the coach and you would be most welcome.
