Promoted by Area 4 the golf day went ahead on Friday 8th July despite torrential rainfall overnight. The club were unable to allow buggies onto the course which impacted on some members who were unable to play. However by 11.30am the rain had gone and the teams tee’d off.
PGA professional John Watson was waiting on the 10th Tee to challenge the players for a spot prize and had also set up his Trackman system to analyse their swings. The conclusion was that he would not be out of work any time soon!
The Old Castle Trophy and the Unity Shield both went to David Hibbert’s Team with the individual best score from Peter Hodkinson taking the Beneficent Cup. Area 4 APGM David Dyson, although not a golfer himself, was pleased to attend and present the trophies. A great time was had by all and the teams are looking forward to competing next year in better conditions.
