For WBro Othman Ghosheh and WBro Tony Owens, members of Vernon Lodge No.5117 and The Lodge of Benevolence No.336 respectively (both in Area 4) the Therapy Hub is an institution close to their hearts. On 18th December 2018 they prepared a festive lunch for the patients and staff, with Tony donating the food and Othman doing the cooking.
Run by the NHS and based in Longsight, Manchester, The Therapy Hub is a multi-disciplinary service providing assessments and time limited treatment for those in Later Life with complex mental health needs requiring intensive assessment and therapies. The service is nurse-led and provides a safe, friendly and supportive environment which encourages independence and rehabilitation. Attendance is time-limited, dependent upon ones needs and provide the least restrictive options to hospital admission.
WBro Ghosheh has volunteered at the centre for a number of years and felt that a Festive lunch was a fitting way of helping both the patients and staff. However, further assistance was offered in at the beginning of January when a new cooker hood was donated by WBro Tony Owens.
It is hoped that improvements continue into 2019 with an updated kitchen planned. The patients and staff of the Therapy Hub have expressed their thanks for the lunch and new cooker hood and are especially grateful to the Freemasons involved in the event.
