De Sala Lodge No 5657, meeting at Sale Masonic Hall, has been one of the first Lodges in the Province to take advantage of the new policy of being able to advertise in local newspapers – and have the cost of the advertisement paid by Province for appropriate charitable events.
The brethren of the Lodge decided to host a ‘Karaoke to Battle Cancer’ night and took the event to the lively Garvey’s Irish Bar in Sale town centre. The event was advertised on the front page of the Sale and Altrincham Messenger and the results were outstanding.
The advert run on the front page of the local paper.
The event was very well attended by members of De Sala Lodge, other brethren and their families and a large number of the general public. Thanks to a fabulous raffle, generously supported by Garveys Irish bar, £570 was raised on the night with the Lodge contributing a further £180 making it £750 in all for St Ann’s Hospice, Heald Green, Cheadle.
Bro Mike O’Brien who presented the cheque along with WBro Neil Owen Smith PProvJGW the Lodge Charity Steward, said ‘ It was a wonderful effort and just goes to show that Freemasonry and the general public can work extremely well together.’
Such is the impetus of the dynamic junior brethren at De Sala Lodge they are planning more social events over the spring and summer and you can be sure charities will benefit enormously.
