Brian Sykes Raby celebrates 50 Years as a Freemason

Max Leese congratulates Brian Raby on 50 Years service to Freemasonry in Cheshire

WBro Brian Sykes Raby PJGD Worshipful Master of The Sacotias Lodge No. 1357 celebrated 50 Years as a Freemason on Wednesday 26th March 2014. The Lodge was honoured by the attendance of a veritable Pantheon of Grand Lodge Officers, Acting Provincial Grand Loge Officers and distinguished guests led by WBro Maxwell Millward Leese APGM for Area 3 who took the chair to officiate at the celebration ceremony. WBro Brian’s long time friend WBro Dr Peter John Lorraine Chapman PSGD PAPGM  delivered an amusing tongue  in cheek history of his lugubrious colleague which was enjoyed by all. WBro Leese read the 50 Years Service to Freemasonry Certificate,  which had been signed by the Provincial Grand Master and WBro Paul Sandiford PDGDC proclaimed WBro Raby

Sacotias Lodge No. 1357 which meets at Altrincham Masonic Hall, Clay Lane Timperley was founded by the amalgamation of The Cope Lodge  No. 1357, The Sale Lodge No. 2962 and Timperley Lodge No. 3555
At the Social Board following the meeting Brian was presented by the Lodge with a silver Quaich ( a two handled drinking cup ) and a fine bottle of Single Malt Whisky.
A collection made at the well attended Socotias Lodge Ladies Evening at St. Ann’s  last weekend, plus the Alms collection from Brian’s  Jubilee,  raised a total of nearly £650 which will be presented to the Multiple Sclerosis Society Charity, a cause which is close to WBro Brian’ s heart, his wife Margaret having suffered from this progressively debilitating disease until her passing.
