Broadsmith 3593 Brethren take the 72 hole Golf Challenge

On Monday 6th August three Brethren from Broadsmith Lodge No 3593 accompanied by a guest took on the Cancer Research UK ’72 holes in a Day’ challenge at Prenton Golf Club. WBro’s Neil McCrone, John Lacey (WM) & Steve Simcox together with Mr Peter Gee meet at the club for 4.45am and by 5.10am had enough light to commence playing.  It was a long day without any stops – food & drink being taken ‘on the hoof’.  The four very tired but exhilarated Golfers finally sunk the last putts on the 72nd hole at 6.35pm some 13hrs & 25mins after starting, before promptly heading for the Bar   A number of balls were ‘retired’ during the day and all four Golfers found themselves victims of a swarm of mosquito’s who certainly found a taste for Masonic blood!!

This event was a national one organised by Cancer Research UK and ran throughout August.  The guys are on course (no pun intended) to raise over £2,000.00.  Their Giving Page closes on 31st October and if you would still like to make a donation, it will be gratefully received and faithfully applied.  Donations can be made at:

Ready for the off – 5.05am and nearly enough light to get going!!

Half way there and still smiling!!

Job done – now where’s the Bar?
