On Friday 29th September 2017, Minerva Lodge No: 2433, hosted the Area 2, Tercentenary Celebration Dinner. The occasion was well attended with 71 brethren sitting down to a superb meal.
Compere and DC, W.Bro. Stuart Jones, welcomed the brethren and outlined how the evening was to develop. He then introduced W.Bro. Paul Cotton (Zetland Lodge), who spoke for several minutes on the today’s Generational Diversity and how this presents future opportunities for service and fraternal institutions.
W.Bro. David Perkins (Minerva Lodge), Area 2 Charity Representative, then provided details of Local Charities supported by Area 2 in recent times.
Following the meal, we were treated to a short Lecture entitled ‘The Liverpool Masonic Rebellion’ given by Bro. Dr David Harrison (Lodge of Light No: 148, West Lancs). Very interesting insight into the local history and the brethren involved.
Finally, W.Bro. Phillip Davies (Zetland Lodge) shared some of his research into the alleged Conspiracies regarding the White Chapel Murders (Jack the Ripper) and Freemasonry. Sir Charles Warren was the Metropolitan Police Commissioner based at Scotland Yard (Freemason) and Chief Suspect Michael Maybrick (Freemason). Very interesting PowerPoint Show.
The Master of Minerva Lodge, W.Bro. Derek Longman had officiated over two Raffles. The first saw 5 Brethren take home their prize bottle. The proceeds of that Raffle, £165.00 is to be donated to ‘The Wednesday Special Needs Club’. The second Raffle was for a Large TLC Bear and that raised £270.00 for the TLC Funds.
V.W.Bro. Alan Glazier (DPGM), accompanied by W.Bro. Gary Horstman (APGM for Area 2), W.Bro. John Miller (Area 2 Chairman) and other senior Provincial Brethren. V.W.Bro. Alan Glazier, thanked the brethren for their attendance and the speakers for making it an enjoyable evening.
