On Saturday 9th June, Area 2 held the first ‘Open to the Public’ Event of the summer, with its ‘BBQ Funday’, at Whitby Masonic Hall.
The Event, which was organised by WBro Garry Cowling, saw a steady stream of visitors with noticeably high levels of none Masons and their families. Also well supported by members from near and far, and the car park was full all afternoon.
The Hall TLC Representative, Ted Thompson, was pleased to present a cheque to WBro Gary Horstman for £500, which he had collected on behalf of that Charity, over the year.
The event was also supported by the ‘Widows Sons Masonic Motorcyclists Association’, and
WBro Gary Horstman was pleased, when requested, to “patch” their newest member at their display. (one of their members even had his face painted, with their distinctive Cheshire Cat Grinning emblem.)
Unfortunately, the unpredictable British Summer intervened, with rain starting despite the warm conditions just after 3:00pm, which although quite light did start to empty the generally full car park, and the decision was made to close the event earlier than planned.
Despite this set back, the afternoon was a success, and will hopefully be repeated, as we take Freemasonry into the Community.
