WBro John Maxwell – 50 years in Freemasonry

On Wednesday April 19th, W.Bro. John Leonard Maxwell celebrated 50 years of being a Freemason at the regular meeting of Progress Lodge No. 4584 held at Hulme Hall, Port Sunlight, Wirral.

W.Bro. Paul Massie APGM for Area 1 gave a detailed retrospect of W.Bro. John’s personal and masonic life.  Also present on the evening were many of John’s long standing friends including W.Bro. George Mann, APGM for Area 5 and 14 other Acting Provincial Officers.  The other visitors present on the night included Grand and Provincial Officers and Brethren from John’s other Lodges in Cheshire, North Wales and Scotland.   W.Bro. Paul Massie was very pleased to promote John to the rank of PPrJGW in recognition of the work he has done over the years in the Province of Cheshire.

WBro. John was Initiated into St. Deiniol’s Lodge in the Province of North Wales on March 29th 1963 and was Installed as the Worshipful Master in February 1982.  Since then John has joined other Lodges in Cheshire and Scotland and been Installed as Worshipful Master on a further three occasions.

The Worshipful Master of Progress Lodge, W.Bro. Peter Morley PPrJGD was delighted, on behalf of the members, to present W.Bro. John with an engraved Pewter goblet to use when enjoying a dram or two of his favourite scotch.
