The Board of Directors of Wallasey Masonic Hall wish to mark the Tercentenary Celebrations of Freemasonry with two events, both of which will be held at Wallasey Masonic Hall.
Heritage Open Days – Friday 8 September and Saturday 9 September 2017
In association with Wirral History and Heritage Open Days, the Hall will be opened to the public as part of the Heritage annual programme of Open House events. It is intended to have guided tours, over the two days – Friday 8 September and Saturday 9 September 2017 – with the Hall being open from 09.30am until 17.00 hours on each of the two Open Days.
It is anticipated that Area 1 will support the Board with this Heritage Open Day event with displays for the Teddy Bear Appeal and other Masonic Charities, all to give our visitors more information about Freemasonry in general, and the Hall in particular.
If you think you can assist, then please contact Alisdair M Macdonald – Hall Secretary email@example.com or phone 01244 881 067.
Exhibition – Photographs from Another Place – Friday 8 September 2017
W.Bro.Hugh Fleetwood of Grosvenor Lodge was approached by the Manchester based artist designer Alan Ward in late 2014. Mr.Ward had purchased a large number of glass photographic negatives on eBay from a source in Brighton. He discovered that the negatives had close associations with the Gearing family from Wallasey, and also links with local Freemasonry in Wallasey.
In researching the Gearing family history Mr.Ward discovered that W.Bro.Sydney J Gearing had been a member of Grosvenor Lodge, and had been its WM away back in 1945. He was also a member of many Masonic side degrees, and had been President of the Merseyside Association of Masonic Research. In addition, W.Bro.Sydney had used his draughting skills to produce a variety of Masonic artwork for Grosvenor Lodge.
This unique event will complement the main exhibition by Mr.Ward of the Gearing family ‘Photographs from Another Place’ which will be held in the Williamson Art Gallery in Birkenhead (and elsewhere) in 2018.
This evening will start at 7.00 for 7.30pm and will take place in the Large Lodge Room. There is no charge for attendance, but an early confirmation would be appreciated, if you wish to attend as numbers are likely to be limited. Wives and partners are also warmly invited to this special event.
Please contact Alisdair M Macdonald – Hall Secretary to confirm your attendance firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 01244 881 067.
